National Highways Authority of India ( NHAI )

National Highways Authority Of India: 

National highways authority of India know as NHAI is an autonomous statutory organisation which was established on 15 June ,1989 under National Highways Authority of the act 1988. It is working under guidance of Ministry of Surface Transport ( MOST ) and is responsible for development, maintenance and management of national highway in india. it head office is situated in New Delhi. 

Function of NHAI 

1) to develop, maintain and manage National highways in india.

2) To implement National Highways development project sectioned by MOST .

3) To construct express way.

4) To invite tender and award project to various highway building companies.

5) to handle BOT projects. ( Build Operate Transfer ) 

6) to initiate four laning and six laning of various highways.

7) to construct roads by low cost material such as utilising flyash n road construction under guidance of MOST.

8) To create fund for road development projects by levying toll ta and other charges.
