Nominal diameter of bars
NOMINAL DIAMETER OF BARS
Nominal diameter of bars is the dimensions of the diameter of round bars. The side of a square bar is called nominal size of squar bar . In case of deformed bars, the nominal diameter is taken equivalent to that of a plain bar having the same mass per unit length as the deformed bars. It means , although the shape of cross section of plain and deformed bars are not equal but for a particular diameter their cross sectional area and weight per meter length are the same.
The reinforcing bars referred as rebers are generally available in the market in the following sizes
6 mm , 8mm, 10 mm , 12 mm , 16 mm , 20 mm, 22 mm , 25 mm , 28 mm , 32 mm, 36 mm, 40 mm
The basic weight of steel is taken equal to 7850 kg/M3
